The calculators are free, provided as estimates, and are not a substitute for your carrier's rating or your own load safety assessment.
What this site is
StowHand publishes free calculators and explanatory guides about freight, packaging and shipping. Using them requires no account and no payment.
Accuracy and reliance
Every figure produced here is an estimate for planning purposes. The calculations apply published carrier rules, dimensional standards and typical container specifications, all of which change and none of which cover every case. In particular:
- Your carrier's rated invoice is the authority on charges. Carriers measure and weigh consignments with their own equipment and apply their own contracts and surcharges.
- The plate on the container or vehicle is the authority on weights. Typical tare and payload figures vary between individual units.
- Load safety is your responsibility. A pattern that fits geometrically may still be unsafe to transport. Stack strength, load restraint, weight distribution and axle limits are not modelled by any tool on this site.
Each calculator carries a section describing where it stops being accurate. Those sections are part of these terms in substance: they tell you the conditions under which a result should not be relied on.
Liability
The tools and guides are provided as they are, without warranty. To the extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for loss arising from reliance on a figure produced here — including carriage charges, rejected loads, damaged goods or delays. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Using the content
You may use the calculators freely in the course of your work, quote from the guides with a link back, and share links to any page. You may not republish the text of the guides wholesale, copy the calculators onto another site, or present this material as your own.
Advertising
This site carries third-party advertising, described in the privacy policy. Advertisers do not influence the calculations or the editorial content, and the appearance of an advert is not an endorsement of the advertiser.
